- Background: I grew up in historic Saratoga Springs, upstate New York. I currently work as a PHP developer for a firm in my hometown, but work remotely and live in Boston. I went to school at McGill in Montreal and spent my first three years after college in Chicago. I've always wanted to live in somewhere warm yet keep choosing the coldest cities.
- Education: McGill University for undergraduate degree, graduate of Dev Bootcamp in Chicago
- In college and directly after I was focused on a career in finance with technology as a secondary focus. I interned at an asset management firm in my hometown and then found great success as an equity trader at Tower Hill Trading in Chicago where I also completed my CFA.
In search of a more fulfilling career, I returned to something that I had loved in college, software development, and enrolled in Dev Bootcamp. Directly after Dev Bootcamp I was hired by an alumnus to work as a junior engineer for his company, customshirts.com. After moving from Chicago and back to Saratoga, I began to work as a web applications developer for CORESense, a software as a solution company that provides retail management solutions for mid to large scale retailers.
- Dev Bootcamp: After McGill I had always felt remiss about abondoning the computer science classes I was taking to focus on economics. One of my biggest concerns was that software development was too isolated of a study, and that I would shrink away in a detached environment. Having graduated and hearing friends talk about how social working in development can be, I felt even more remiss that I had given up on something so cool so early. Enter Dev Bootcamp. A 19 week immersive software development program focusing on Ruby on Rails, JavaScript, and agile development; seemingly custom fit for people like me who are busy yet intensely want to learn more about programming. I immediately found a way to enroll. I finished Dev Bootcamp on October 23rd of this year (2015).
